A secluded region of forests and snow
Lake Okutadami is a man-made lake formed by the construction of the Okutadami dam.
Constructed in 1961 for the purpose of generating hydroelectric power, it is one of the Japan's largest man-made lake, boasting a volume of 600,000,000 square meters. (Official name: Lake Ginzan)
Surrounded by a Japanese elm forest and several mountains of over 2,000 meters in height, visitors can take a ride on our tour boat and enjoy an up-close look at the abundant nature of the area.
From the the contrast of the fresh vegetation against the lingering snow in spring to the autumn leaves in fall, it plays host to a magnificent array of scenery that changes by the season. In addition to the forty-minute lap of the lake, there is also a route to the popular Oze national park, popular with hikers.
